2024 has plenty of surprises in store in the city of Cannes: in addition to the Cannes Festival which will take place in May, the city will welcome the MIPIM trade fair to the Palais des Festivals from 12 to 15 March 2024, an unmissable event focused on real estate and the city, bringing together globally renowned actors.
The Cannes MIPIM 2024: a more responsible and committed edition
Created in 1990, the MIPIM (International Real-Estate Professionals Market) is the world’s leading real-estate market.
This event is the number one real-estate trade fair in terms of discoveries, meetings and opportunities between the most influential international actors in the sector. In total, 100 countries will be represented, paying testimony to the event’s importance on the global stage. From investors and financial institutions to hotel groups or real-estate developers, the whole value chain will be present at this event.
This year, the MIPIM has committed to responsibility and sustainability through various initiatives and collaboration. Their focuses will address waste minimisation, reducing the event’s carbon footprint, as well as diversity, equality and inclusion.
In short, this edition promises to be more responsible and committed. With over 22,000 participants, discover what the MIPIM offers in terms of specific solutions and opportunities!
The Cannes MIPIM 2024 programme
With over 18,000 square metres of exhibition spaces, the MIPIM presents a relatively comprehensive and varied programme covering several themes related to the world of real estate. According to the organisers, through its various conferences and events, MIPIM aims to help the international community look ahead thanks to forecasts and the expertise of key decision makers, to collaborate through meetings and discussions and to implement solutions intended to improve operational excellence.
Among its conferences, five stages have been developed in order to inspire, learn and meet the real-estate community:
The Leaders’ Perspective Stage is a stage through which to discover the vision of industry experts and leaders through the following question: what will our industry be like in the future and what should it be like? AI and geopolitical, demographic and financial forecasts will also be addressed.
- The Make It Happen Stage is another stage tackling operational excellence through case studies and projects.
- The Geo Focus Stage will be a one-hour conference intended to better understand local markets through a factual presentation, followed by a discussion between key actors.
- The Asset Class Stage is a 2.5-hour workshop dedicated to asset classes and infrastructures; what’s more, one-hour sessions on data centres and life sciences can also be found on the programme.
- Finally, the Road to Zero Stage will be a one-hour conference aiming to address solutions through which to decarbonise the real-estate industry.
In addition to these major conferences, the event also offers a host of other conferences within geographical pavilions to learn more about specific subjects relating to a given country or town.
The edition’s flagship conferences and events
As well as the conferences mentioned above, the flagship event of the 2024 session will be “Housing Matters!”, a summit focused on sustainable accommodation solutions in partnership with Co-Liv, a leading global association for co-living professionals.
The summit, as the fair’s pre-opening event on Monday 11 March 2024, will bring together investors and developers in a single location, along with public authorities, to explore and address solutions faced with growing demand, soaring prices and housing inequality, and against the backdrop of the sector’s decarbonisation, sharing various points of view on the field’s sustainable future.
Alongside this major event, the MIPIM will host an opening ceremony celebrating the launch of the 2024 edition on the evening of Tuesday 12 March, to discover the participants and start forging links with them. Other summits are also on the agenda, like the RE-Invest summit which will take place behind closed doors for sovereign wealth, pension and insurance funds, or the political leaders summit – also behind closed doors – during which the leaders of major cities will share their perspectives and priorities.
MIPIM 2024 guests and partners
And what would an international event be without its high-profile guests? This year, Sanna Marin will open the 33rd edition of MIPIM. For those not familiar, she was appointed Prime Minister of Finland at the age of just 34 in 2019, and until recently was the youngest head of government in office in the world. What’s more, Sanna Marin remains an expert in geopolitics, strategic autonomy and climate change, making her a real figurehead for the event.
In addition to the various personalities and leading actors present at the event, MIPIM also attracts large groups like Schindler or SwissLife, to name but a few. Likewise, the event brings together various international sponsors and partners, as diverse as they are varied, like PropTech or the Generali group.
